I love how cities are starting to create beautiful sections that showcase the talent of local artists. Norfolk has the Neon District and Virginia Beach has the Vibe District. I met up with Malia for her dance session and we explored the colorfully painted walls around the Oceanfront.

It was surprisingly chilly for June. We visited a few of the murals then made our way down to the boardwalk and pier. When I get to photograph dancers it’s like a special treat. I love getting to combine my love of dance and photography. Dancers spark a special kind of beauty and creativity.

Malia is a tiny dancer, but she is growing into a strong and graceful one. I’ve watched her grow over the last few years at our studio. I look forward to seeing her develop over the next several years as well. I am thankful that I was able to capture some beautiful photos for her at this stage of her dance journey.
